I just preordered the Uber for NYE & it was totally the right move.

*I just preordered the Uber for NYE & it was totally the right move. *

$17 bucks. Let’s go. Scheduling the ride situation in advance is absolutely a player move. There’s no need to worry about surge pricing, there’s now an heightened thrilling sense of “we gotta be ready by…”, and also it just feels good to be prepared. Because tbh, NYE can be a lot.

A lot of munyun.
A lot of preparation.
A lot of uncertainty.

So I was kinda surprised when Danielle came to me with a move last minute.

We probably coulda took the train, but y’all know how I feel about public transit & smells. Plus it’s NYE. Let’s celebrate!

In all honesty, the last few New Years have been pretty solid. Last year we were at a buddies studio filming a DJ set. And the year before that we went out with her friends and ate grapes under tables lol. But literally the other day we were planning to just chill on our new couch and vision board.

Vision boarding and stuff is cool. Don’t get me wrong I’m all down for a Reflect n’ Refresh™ sesh, but I enjoy stepping out too. Two things can be true, so maybe we’ll do both.

*My next thought rn is: **wtf am I gonna wear??? ***

The *other *thing that makes NYE a lot is dressing for the occasion. Like you inherently wanna look cool & feel good, yes. But that comes down to 2 options: do I rock a big coat or nah.

Big on the “**or nah” **lol.

Comfortability is max priority when you’re hitting the city for NYE. Since you’re more than likely gonna be hoofing it on foot from place to place, it makes sense to bring a coat for the elements. But tbh I don’t wanna rock a coat, and I definitely do not want to be cold.

So.

Decisions decisions.

Logging the timestamps is something I thought could be fun. I’m not intentionally tryna do things at an exact time. It just happens to be so that I’m typing this (exactly 12hrs from the previous timestamp) rn during my morning poop.

Today, to finish prepping for the New Years, I need to get alcohol (we’re social drinkers so we are kinda a dry house), clean up the crib, and finalize some tingz. Pretty much, wrap up any loose ends & go into the year #tightened #tf #up. I still don’t know what to wear fr but I think I’m committed to just layering up and not rocking a big coat.

Uniqlo heat tech let’s go.

I’m standing in line at Ma Lessie’s waiting to grab catfish platters. I try to start the new year with collard greens and black eyed peas. This year, instead of cooking it at home, I decided to treat us with some of the best soul food in the city. The line is always wrapped around the corner so you know it’s A1. If you ever visit Philly, you *must *hit up Ma Lessie’s in Reading Terminal.

I ate my entire platter and now I’m tired.

In the Uber. 3 drinks down. Shoutout to the radio lol. The classic jams are going in rn. Our driver keeps saying how crazy it is outside and I totally get it.

I’m so glad I scheduled this ride early :)

Morgan Freeman Narrator Voice: Kevin and Danielle had a great time bringing in the new years. It was a good day of good laughs, good food, and good(ish) dancing. Unfortunately Kevin is too tired to continue writing. Perhaps he will be back after a good nights sleep.

It was a fun night. Over & out. I’m tired. Luckily there’s good food at home. I’m done writing for now.

Okay I’m back. Now that I have time to reflect on the night, it was a great NYE. We were at some speakeasy style hideout space in Center City. The hideout had a cocktail lounge type atmosphere that felt kinda upscale yet cool.

Sometimes these cocktail speakeasy type lounges can come off kinda cheugy & forced, but that wasn’t the case here. It was a good mix of interesting people and loud music. Shoutout to Krispy & BBYGIRLSHAM for keeping the energy on point all night.

Overall it was hella fun. We saved money by sneaking in those lil airplane sized nips (that’s how you gotta move in this economy lol) and that was the right move too. Danielle kept stuffing the empty bottles in the faux velour couch lol.

NYE is always so expensive but we made it work.

Happy 2026 to y’all!
